I want to talk today about an idea which is a virus running through our society…

a virus so deep that even when we think we’ve broken free, we’re still trapped…

a thought so contagious, so favourable to the control mechanism existing in the world today that it’s everywhere…

It runs through the very fabric of society we’re living in today…

It’s the idea of Quantifying your Success… Let me explain…

You see we live in a world of “how much”, we exist in a paradigm where value can and must be defined by quantity… If you have a million dollars, the next goal is two, if you have a nice car, the next goal is two nice cars, and so on…

But this idea of quantifying success, while appealing to the consumerist society we’ve been bred into, actually detach you completely from your essence, detach you completely from true abundance…

In my journey I’ve learned that there are two frames of success… One is the success you think you want as defined by the world around you…

Second is the success of your true self, not affected by opinions, judgements and expectations of the world and past you’ve grown up in…

Let me clarify the difference so you totally “get” this…

You may go to a seminar, watch a TV program, listen to a song, admire someone who is really successful & has a really nice car… Once this association is made over and over and over again your mind associates the pattern that really successful = really nice car…

Our minds are creatures of habits and patterns, once you can see the patterns of association & break them, your true self starts to emerge…

Now, let’s have a look from the perspective of a baby, not influenced yet, nothing expected, no judgements, whats a baby’s idea of “success”?

Getting fed?

Having fun?

Being able to walk?

Being able to speak?

Funny how a baby effortlessly, when a child is not subject to negative reinforcing patterns from the parents while in development or in the first few weeks of being born, manifests this progress, always successful… effortlessly…

Because a baby is operating from its true essence of maintaining happiness, not from the perspective of the opinions, judgements and expectations of the world and the patterns around them…

The world as it is today spends trillions of dollars to repeatedly put patterns of behaviour in-front of you, from every angle perceivable, and now that we all have smartphones and smart watches and smart glasses and smart cars and smart laptops, they don’t even need to wait for you to be in-front of the television or radio…

We’re conditioned to change the meaning of success from happiness “I’ll be happy when I get fed, when I have fun, when I can walk, when I’m able to speak”…

And into a state of “I’ll be happy when I get the house, when I get the car, when I get the watch, when I get the shoes”…

Why?

Well because Happiness doesn’t cause you to hand over all your money UNLESS you think happiness has to be bought…

Be quantified, justified through the purchase of something that you don’t have yet.

When you think that, when you believe that when that’s the pattern, when that’s the social norm, you’ll hand over money, expecting happiness in return in the form of the car, house or shoes…

So really, what we’re trained to do is make Success a destination, quantify it by learning that “Success is achieved when I go from where I am today, to where I want to be tomorrow”…

I can only be happy when I get from point A to point B…

When I go from not having the car, to having the car…

The problem with this is, what about all the other abundance, what about the very purpose of life, the experience… When you quantify success what you’re doing is detaching from true abundance…

I’m not the guy who’s going to tell you, “you shouldn’t be after the home of your dreams, the car of your dreams, the watch of your dreams”… I’m the guy that’s telling you…

Let that be an experience, not an achievement…

The only achievement is happiness…

HERE’S THE TEST

This one question, if you answer it truthfully, will tell you if you’re a finite player or an infinite player…

Are you, in any area of your life delaying happiness consciously or unconsciously to a future purchase, future “arrival” or a person or something that’s outside of your soul?

If your happiness is set in the future i.e. when you get from Point A, to point B… You’re playing a finite game…

I was trapped in this and in some area’s I’m still very much trapped in this dilemma, for me, my biggest trap, sorry lessons, have been in Business & Relationships…

We see this repeatedly at Gold For Life, where new students and members put so much of their happiness on the investment increasing in value, the first thing we do is remove the emotion out of it all by making the process mechanical so that it floods their certainty back, their commitment back, their unwillingness to try speculative other things… We quite simply, detach the happiness from the eventual profit first…

Because when you make this switch between what is an experience and the only true achievement…

What you’re really saying is “I want to experience driving a Ferrari now” or “I want to experience living in San Diego instead of London now”…

Say them out-loud, can you FEEL the difference? What is it? Can you tell?

Your happiness is not being delayed or held away from you… You’re confidently demanding a change in external circumstance without emotionally attaching happiness to it’s arrival… Certainty in the “manifestation” FLOODS back in… It sort of feels like “child’s play”… guess what, THATS WHEN THINGS HAPPEN… in that very energy, Child’s play…

When you operate from a state of Child’s play, that’s when you really know whether the desire will truly make you happy on a soul level, only then can it align & manifest…

All ambitions, all worldly ambitions are amazing and  you should want to experience all of them because you’re HERE to experience the fruits of this reality…

But the virus, the idea that’s causing so much unhappiness is the detachment from abundance through the quantification of what success actually is…

I learned probably about 5 years into my journey that success isn’t the achievement of a worldly desire, success is the very opportunity to even desire it…

When you detach from playing a finite game from A to B, and you wake up every morning realising their is no end to this and you get to choose whatever experience you want next from this world while being constantly in a state of happiness…

That’s magic, that’s what I want for this world…

To realise there is no “end”…

To realise the game is not finite…

You’re not here to have a limited choice of A to B pursuits, dictated by somebody else and then die…

There is no beginning point where you “don’t have”…

There is no “winner”…

There is no “loser”…

The game is YOU…

And only when you stop quantifying success and realise everything you’ve been taught to “achieve” is simply a choice for you to experience with the certainty of the power of the universe that runs through every cell in your body…

When you wake up to the fact that happiness is in the now, and this game is never going to end, that Point A, and Point B are distinguished only when looking in from outside the soul…

When you realise that Success is “quantified” by your happiness now and everything else is the illusion of separation you allow yourself to see…

You’re truly awake… Truly still… And now the universe can surrender to you…

You are truly infinite…

  1. :)

    Take this a step further…

One person’s idea of happiness will not be the same as another as there are different tiers to happiness dependent upon an individual’s stage in his/her life, level of growth, personal desires/dreams, etc. HOWEVER, the same thing can be encountered in whatever tier a person may be in and must be acknowledged and dealt with in order to gain maximum happiness and continue with the infinite and wonderful flow that comes from that journey. It is obstacles of hindrance that stem from non-essential matters. They become psychological and unnecessary hurdles on a limitless path. You have a perfect example above when you discussed a newborn infant. A soul who is not tainted by those things in this realm which are designed to be destructive and distracting by nature. A pure self, a pure being. One directly connected to the essence of who they are in and beyond this realm. But as each being grows, non-essential matters taint what is pure (i.e. experiencing “bad” energy and negativity from others, insecurities brought on by false self-talk which become distorted beliefs, letting the realities of others influence your own instead of staying with the course of the truth of yourself, etc.)… From all of this there needs to be a conscious rebirth of self… A movement from within and beyond back to the purification each soul comes into this realm with. That is where our natural state of being is meant to be. It is through this conscious growth that one can truly navigate back to and fully appreciate what it is that brings them joy. You must focus on self in order for this to happen. That is the only way. Once you master the focusing of self and you have gone through the process of this “rebirth”, that is enlightenment. Reach that stage and then the real service to others can begin. The purpose of life in this realm is joy but the result of life in this realm is and always will be growth :)

  2. Thanks for sharing Minesh. It all makes perfect sense. It reminds me of an audio tape called Effortless Success by Michael Neill in which Michael talks about happy success and that one needs to be happy first and foremost and detached from all the things one desires
